Job Description
We’re looking for dedicated leaders in embedded development—whether you call yourself a Tech Lead or a Technical Project Manager!
Within the Product Development department at AFRY in Stockholm, you’ll work on developing intelligent, connected, and high-tech products—where the software is often closely linked to the hardware.
Our projects span multiple industries, such as:
- Automotive and electrification
- Telecommunications and IoT
- Medical technology
- Industrial systems
- Consumer products
As a Tech Lead / Technical Project Manager in Embedded Software, you are responsible for ensuring that the software is designed, developed, and delivered according to plan—often in close collaboration with electronics and systems teams. You will lead the technical work within the team, drive architectural decisions, and ensure that solutions meet requirements for performance, real-time capabilities, and robustness. Depending on your background, the role may involve a clearer focus on either technical depth or project management and delivery responsibility—we welcome both profiles.
You’ll coach and support team members and contribute to a learning-oriented and inclusive development environment. You thrive in a role where you can combine technical expertise with leadership and customer engagement.
The role involves many points of contact, and you’re comfortable explaining complex systems where software and hardware interact. You also have experience with requirements management and can break down system requirements into concrete and feasible software solutions. If you have a background as a Technical Project Manager, we also welcome your experience coordinating deliveries, managing stakeholders, and driving projects from requirements through to deployment.
At AFRY, you’ll be part of a skilled team that works together to develop innovative and sustainable embedded solutions in collaboration with our clients.
Qualifications
Our core values—Brave, Devoted, and Teamplayers—define how we see ourselves. You are humble, analytical, and solution-oriented, with a focus on quality and the long term.
You have experience in a similar role—such as Tech Lead, Technical Project Manager, or equivalent—or have worked for several years in embedded development and are ready to take the next step toward a leadership role.
You communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
We’d like you to have experience with:
- Developing firmware in C/C++ for resource-constrained systems
- Working closely with hardware (MCU, SoC, interfaces such as SPI/I2C/UART)
- Designing and implementing real-time systems (RTOS or bare-metal)
- Breaking down system requirements into software architecture and implementation
- Test, verify, and debug in a lab environment
- Work with the entire development cycle—from concept to production
Knowledge in several of the following areas is a plus:
- Embedded Linux
- Safety-critical systems (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 62304)
- Connectivity/IoT (BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE, etc.)
- Signal processing or control systems
- CI/CD and automated testing for embedded systems
- Integration of software into complex systems involving both hardware and cloud services
You have a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
