Job Description

Would you like to work on some of Sweden’s most complex automation projects alongside one of the country’s strongest networks of Siemens specialists?

At AFRY Advanced Automation in Stockholm, we help the industry build the facilities of the future through modern automation, digitalization, and smart control systems. We are currently seeking an experienced automation engineer with expertise in Siemens PCS7 who wants to play a key role in everything from major investments and new construction to the modernization of existing process facilities.

With us, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with clients in sectors such as water and wastewater, energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. Projects vary in both scope and complexity, offering you a rewarding workday where you can combine technical expertise with client interaction and problem-solving.

Your role: from system concept to operational facility As a senior automation engineer, you’ll be an integral part of our project teams and contribute throughout the entire project lifecycle. You’ll work on everything from feasibility studies and system design to programming, testing, commissioning, and technical support for customers.

This position is ideal for someone who values variety and wants to combine hands-on automation work with technical responsibility. You will work on both large multidisciplinary projects and smaller assignments where you’ll have the opportunity to influence solutions and work methods.

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Programming, configuration, and development in Siemens PCS7
  • Work with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems
  • System design and technical solutions for process industry facilities
  • FAT, SAT, commissioning, and verification
  • Troubleshooting and optimization of existing automation solutions
  • Documentation, quality assurance, and technical review
  • Technical consulting and close collaboration with customers, suppliers, and project organizations
  • Mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team

Qualifications

Since you’ll be working on finding solutions to advanced problems, we’d like you to enjoy problem-solving. We envision that you value collaborating with others, inspire engagement, build relationships, and take responsibility. In addition, you’re interested in your own professional growth and in helping to develop your colleagues and clients. It’s important that you feel comfortable and enjoy your work, which is why we place great emphasis on your personal qualities. To thrive with us, we believe you’re flexible and capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously. You also have:

  • Relevant education in the field or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years of experience in the design of new process plants.
  • Extensive experience as an automation engineer and strong proficiency in working with Siemens software, specifically SIMATIC PCS 7, are highly desirable. Experience with other DCS/PLC/SCADA systems is also relevant and of interest for this position.
  • Must have a Class B driver’s license, as travel is a regular part of the role.
  • Strong proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
