Do you want to do your thesis in automation?

AFRY Advanced Automation is a large organization within AFRY, with over 600 dedicated employees in Sweden, we help our customers with advanced technical solutions at the same time as we are entering a transition in industry towards a greener future and more digitized world. We therefore see a great need to engage more competent employees and are now looking for you who want to write your thesis with us.

The idea of the thesis is to develop a SCADA system library that streamlines the work in automation projects, especially focusing on the Water and Wastewater (VA) industry. With the developed objects, it should be possible to effectively create SCADA functionality for a typical automation project in the water industry. The work will involve studying how water and sewage plants are operated in terms of automation and learning how the SCADA system defined in the thesis works and adapting it to an application to operate a water and sewage plant. Specifically, we envision the development of a demonstration application with the developed objects and simulation against a plc system with a typical control for water and wastewater facilities such as a pumping station.

Support will be provided by AFRY where official supervisor is assigned.

Timeline
Start in February and implementation during 2026. The thesis is carried out with the possibility of sitting at both AFRY's office and at the university.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who plan to complete your thesis in the spring of 2026 and who are studying for a civil or university engineer in automation, Bachelor or Master.

You are in the final stage of your education and are interested in industrial automation & IT and have a good understanding and interest in "capturing" needs & facts and programming a solution. It is meritorious if you have worked with programming before. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is a requirement.
