Are you the one?

We are seeking a Cell Test Engineer to join our Cell Development team at Altris, where we are pioneering the next generation of Sodium-Ion battery technology. This role is centered on cell-level testing and analysis, and is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working at the interface between early-stage prototype development and scale-up to larger-format cells.

As a Cell Test Engineer, you will work in the core of Altris – where battery cells are developed and manufactured. You will work with the cell validation activities to confirm performance, safety and reliability of cells against project requirements, ensuring readiness for customer delivery and scale-up.

The Cell Test Engineer reports into the cell development team and is responsible for conducting a wide variety of tests on battery cell level. The primary focus is in-house electrochemical testing, however the role extends to covering externally conducted tests (electrochemical, environmental, safety, abusive and certification testing). The cell test engineer will collaborate closely with the cell development team to design tests, prepare cells for testing, execute the test and report the results in an efficient way.

You will work in a modern workplace with a new innovative battery technology with the aim of enabling the transition to a carbon free society.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for full end to end cycle of testing on cell level (R&D Samples and Production samples) from planning through to reporting
  • Prepare test protocols and scripts in accordance with customer requirements and internal requirements
  • Preparation of the DUT (Device under test) including but not limited to: additional sensors or measurement devices, planning test channel allocation
  • Executing on the test whilst keeping safety as a number one priority
  • Reporting results and drawing conclusions. The individual shall be very strong in documentation and have a desire to standardise the data handling and reporting
  • Summarise test results, draw conclusions in close collaboration with cell development engineers and communicate results in an effective way through reports and presentations internally and for customers.
  • Identifying, executing and managing tests with external partners (environmental, safety, certification etc).
  • Ensure that our validation equipment is maintained regularly and kept in great conditions, including testing channels, temperature chambers and computers controlling the systems.
  • Participate in root cause analysis if the formation and aging (F&A) cycles are out of specification for the pilot scale production

Who you are

Experience and background

  • Masters in Engineering or similar related

How This Role Connects to Our Values

Pioneering — “Think Different, Act as One”

You design and execute cell-level tests that uncover the real-world behaviour of our technology. You transform raw data into insight, challenge assumptions in performance and safety, and collaborate closely with development engineers to advance our understanding of sodium-ion cells.

Progressing — “Act, Adapt, Advance”

You take ownership of test plans, timelines, and documentation. You turn each test cycle into a learning cycle — improving methodologies, adapting to new formats and customer needs, and enabling faster scale-up with confidence.

Persisting — “Keep Going, Keep Growing”

You follow through from preparation to reporting, maintaining equipment, refining protocols, and standardising data practices. Your resilience and attention to detail build validation systems that scale with production and customer demand.
