In the municipality-wide assignment, you will meet students from preschool class to upper secondary school at the various school units in the central town, as well as Vistträskskolan. The goal is for the school library to have a clear educational function where the main task is to, in collaboration with educators and the municipal library, help to promote students' reading and strengthen their media and information literacy. A central part of the mission is to create a school library for everyone. The focus of the activities is the students' increased goal achievement, well-being and identity creation by integrating the school library as a natural part of the teaching. Work tasks As a school librarian, you are responsible for ensuring that the school library is a learning environment that is socially, educationally and physically accessible. Your main tasks are to: - Work to strengthen students' reading engagement and reading skills through reading promotion and language development approaches and activities, both independently and in collaboration with school staff. - Develop ways to strengthen pupils' media and information literacy and digital competence. - Plan and implement lessons and supervise students in both the library and the classroom. - Contribute to the school library being an active part of the school's core values and democratic mission. - Responsible for purchasing, media management, circulation and book administration - Hold book talks, work with classes and conduct library breaks in schools. You will also be expected to participate in skills development activities aimed at further developing school library activities. Qualifications We are looking for you who have a university degree in library and information science, or equivalent education that the employer considers relevant. You have good digital skills and a strong interest in children's and young people's literature. To thrive in the role, you need to have a genuine commitment to children and young people's learning. You have the ambition to translate research and in-depth subject knowledge into a well-functioning school library practice.
