We intend to engage two emergency foster homes, one with a greater interest or expertise in caring for younger children (approx. 0–12 years old) and the other for older children (approx. 13–18 years old), with 1–2 placements per emergency foster home. JOB DESCRIPTION Emergency foster homes take in placed children and youth into their homes on short notice. The placement usually takes place the same day and can last from a few days up to several months when social services determine that, for some reason, the child cannot live with their guardian(s). Emergency foster families are responsible for meeting the child’s needs for care, emotional support, schooling, and leisure activities, as well as maintaining contact with the child’s support network, in collaboration with social services. When the emergency placement ends, the child may either return home or be placed in a long-term foster home, depending on social services’ assessment of the child’s best interests. The Municipality of Boden offers support, guidance, and training to help emergency foster homes gain greater insight and the ability to handle challenges that may arise during their assignment. QUALIFICATIONS To be eligible to serve as an emergency foster family, the family must be approved by the Municipality of Boden following a thorough assessment. The assessment aims to identify the family’s strengths and areas for development, as well as their suitability for caring for placed children and youth. During the assessment, background checks are conducted through records from, among others, the Police Authority, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, and the social services registry. The family must live in the municipality of Boden or a neighboring municipality so that the child can continue attending their preschool or school and maintain contact with parents and other close relatives during the placement. Children in foster care must have access to their own room in the family’s home. We accept applications from all types of family structures, including single parents, who have the time, space, and commitment to care for children in need of temporary placement. Employment Type: Fixed-term employment, typically between 6 months and 1 year per contract period, with the possibility of extension. Entitlement to 2 + 2 weeks of paid leave per year.  Monthly salary consisting of a base fee and reimbursement of expenses, with additional compensation per child per day during the placement period. If leave of absence is required, the emergency foster home is compensated for lost income.  Duration of work: 1 day to a maximum of 6 months per child placed in emergency foster care.
