The school is located 6 km from downtown Boden, beautifully situated in the village of Heden next to a small forest. The school also has two after-school care programs. Over many years, the school’s learning environment has been designed and upgraded for both students and teachers. The focus has been on creating “rooms within a room,” so that the learning environment can serve as an additional educational resource for the students, be easily adaptable, and at the same time enhance job satisfaction for both students and teachers. The outdoor environment—the spacious schoolyard—is also constantly evolving. The school has a well-organized recess program with activities for the students. You’re passionate about building effective groups, fostering democratic processes, and advocating for students who need special support. You value the various aspects of student well-being and build a robust student well-being program that promotes all students’ opportunities to grow and learn. The duties of a principal are numerous, challenging, stimulating, varied, and important. You have the opportunity to influence and shape the future of the next generation. As principal, you have overall responsibility for finances, personnel, the work environment, and quality and school development. You are also responsible for ensuring that the school’s operations meet municipal and national goals and guidelines, and that the schools’ pedagogical approaches are developed so that students are given the best possible conditions for growth. As a principal, you should also serve as a strong ambassador for the Municipality of Boden and for the Labor Market and Education Administration. The Municipality of Boden provides excellent conditions for success in the role of principal. You will have an assistant principal at the school and will be part of a team of principals from the administration’s other K–6 schools, where you will work together to manage and develop elementary education in Boden. During absences, a deputy director steps in. There is also access to administrative support, central student health services, and a central reception unit for newly arrived students. At the central level, support is provided by HR, finance, IT, and the administrative office. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has completed principal training and has experience working as a principal or school leader. Prior to that, you have worked for several years as a certified teacher in elementary school. You are well-versed in policy documents and have a thorough understanding of the principal’s role. You have the ability to strategically lead development initiatives, adapt to new systems, and apply them in your work as a principal. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. We are looking for someone who views diversity as an asset and has high expectations for student well-being and academic achievement. You are interested in workplace environment issues and are committed to ensuring a positive and safe work environment for your staff. You have an inner drive to work both strategically and operationally toward the results and goals required by the role. You can synthesize complex information, take various factors into account, and make sound judgments that demonstrate objective and impartial decision-making. You must also have the ability to analyze and develop your operations in collaboration with your employees. You remain effective and motivated despite setbacks and act with a high degree of integrity and loyalty in your leadership role.
