Hedens School is an elementary school with approximately 230 students from preschool through 6th grade. The school is located 6 km from downtown Boden, beautifully situated in Heden next to a small forest that the school uses frequently. The school has two classes in each grade and two after-school care units. For many years, the school has been designing and upgrading the learning environment for both students and teachers. The focus has been on creating “rooms within a room,” so that the learning environment can serve as an additional teacher for the students, be easy to adapt, and at the same time enhance job satisfaction for both students and teachers. The outdoor environment—the spacious schoolyard—is also constantly evolving. The school has a well-organized recess program with activities for the students.
We want to give our students the courage and skills to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future. We believe that people learn from and with one another, in various situations and environments, and that social interaction is a vital piece of the learning puzzle. At our school, we practice collegial learning, where we draw on and share knowledge and experiences with one another. We actively engage with the latest research and developments.
