JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now looking for someone who wants to make a real difference every day.
As a special education teacher, you will be an important part of our team and will have clear pedagogical responsibility for instruction. You will plan, implement, develop, and follow up on instruction for students in grades 7–9 who are studying subjects according to the adapted elementary school curriculum and course syllabi. You will adapt your teaching, methods, learning tools, and communication to the students’ diverse needs while challenging each student to develop to their fullest potential. In your teaching, you will employ a clear structure and a student-centered approach. You foster a sense of security and motivation and help students discover that they are capable of more than they might realize.
An important part of the role is to monitor and document students’ academic progress and to conduct assessments based on the adapted elementary school course plans and grading criteria. You will also contribute to preparing students for the transition to adapted high school and, in the long term, to as independent and meaningful an adult life as possible. You will work closely with colleagues, student health services, and guardians. At our school, teaching is a shared responsibility where different professionals contribute their expertise. We help each other when needed, share both successes and challenges, and constantly strive to develop our programs together.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed special education teacher and/or a teacher with certification or experience teaching in an adapted elementary school setting. It is advantageous if you have a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities and experience teaching subjects in adapted elementary schools, preferably in grades 7–9. Subject certification for teaching grades 7–9 is also a plus.
For us, the right person is about more than just formal qualifications. We’re looking for someone who is curious about how students learn and who sees opportunities where others sometimes see limitations. You’re a confident adult who can combine warmth with clarity. You have patience, creativity, and structure, but also the ability to adapt when the planned approach doesn’t work for a student. You understand that development can take many forms. What may be a small step for one student can be a major breakthrough for another. We want you to believe in students’ abilities and their right to knowledge, growth, and participation. Our mission is not to lower expectations but to create the conditions that enable every student to succeed. You enjoy collaborating and recognize the value of different professionals working together around the student.
Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
