JOB DUTIES As a vocational teacher in the automotive and transportation program, you will teach high school students both theoretical and practical aspects of passenger cars, trucks, and mobile machinery. You’ll be responsible for planning, conducting, and following up on instruction based on current curriculum guidelines and the students’ varying backgrounds and needs. Your work includes mentoring students, assessing their knowledge, and supporting their development. You will adopt an inclusive approach and adapt your teaching to give all students the best possible conditions for success. You will also help convey the school’s core values and foster students’ democratic and ethical attitudes. In addition to teaching, you will actively participate in the school’s pedagogical development efforts and help develop the automotive and transportation program based on industry needs. This involves, among other things, staying informed about current research, testing new teaching methods, and developing instruction with the support of digital and other pedagogical tools. You will collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to improve teaching and enhance the quality of the program. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for an experienced mechanic with broad technical and practical expertise in the automotive field. You must have strong professional skills and practical experience relevant to teaching in the Automotive and Transportation Program. Experience working with passenger cars, trucks, and mobile machinery is a plus, as is holding a Class C driver’s license and welding skills. It is also advantageous if you are a certified vocational teacher with qualifications in subjects relevant to the automotive and transportation program. If you do not have a teaching certification, we expect you to be interested in and prepared to pursue further education to become a vocational teacher. You are deeply committed to young people and their development and have an interest in teaching and sharing your professional expertise. You have an inclusive approach and the ability to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. You are interested in educational development, are open to new ways of working, and welcome feedback from both colleagues and management to improve your work. As a person, you are responsible, flexible, and proactive. You find it easy to build and maintain good relationships and possess strong collaboration and communication skills. You remain calm, steady, and composed in high-pressure situations, which is particularly important when working with students who have special needs. You also have a strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work, as well as to set and meet deadlines. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
