For the Underground Heavy Equipment Department.
Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that takes a long-term approach to ensuring society’s access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future—what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.
Would you like to work in one of the world’s most modern mines and contribute to safe, sustainable, and efficient production? Our operations in Garpenberg are constantly evolving, and we are now looking for two heavy equipment mechanics for our underground Mobile Mechanics department. Our department is part of the Underground Maintenance Section, where we recently surpassed 100 employees in total.
Your Role
Our underground fleet consists of approximately 100 mining machines, such as drill rigs, loaders, scrapers, bolt tensioners, and various trucks, among other equipment. As a vehicle mechanic, your job is to perform maintenance and repairs on these machines. Over time, we expect you to specialize in certain types of machinery, but you should have the knowledge to work on all of them. Work is usually done in pairs at one of our underground workshops, but both scheduled and emergency assignments out in the field occur. Each morning begins with a kick-off meeting where we review the day’s activities, assign work orders, and discuss any incidents or deviations that have occurred since the last shift before work begins in the workshops.
We operate in a constantly evolving environment and are looking for someone who is open to change, has strong collaboration skills, enjoys working both in pairs and independently, and values structure and order in the workplace.
The work schedule consists of 7-to-7 daytime shifts underground (work Mon–Fri 6:00 AM–4:00 PM and Sat–Sun 6:00 AM–2:18 PM, with every other week off). In the long term, night shifts may also be required. A probationary period may apply.
Your Team
As a vehicle mechanic, you’ll be part of the underground maintenance section. Our department consists of 38 mechanics divided into two shifts, each with a team leader to whom you’ll report. The team also includes two maintenance managers who oversee day-to-day operations.
