Are you the one?

Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that takes a long-term approach to ensuring society’s access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future—what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.

Would you like to help build the mine of the future? At Boliden, backfilling plays a crucial role in safe and sustainable mining. Once the ore has been extracted, voids are left in the rock—and that’s where you come in. We fill these spaces with paste, a material similar to slightly looser concrete, to stabilize the rock mass and enable continued mining. The paste is pumped through a modern pipeline system from the above-ground plant, making the process both efficient and technically exciting. It’s an important part of our work to create a safe work environment and contribute to sustainable mining.

Do you want to work with innovative solutions and be part of a team that makes a difference? Then this is the job for you! We’re expanding the Paste Backfill Team and are now looking for two backfill workers who want to join us on our journey.

Your Role

As a backfill worker, you’ll be responsible for preparing for the backfilling of excavated rock chambers and monitoring ongoing backfilling operations. You’ll work closely with the underground production team and have daily contact with staff at the above-ground paste plant.

These are permanent positions with rotating shifts, 7-7 days and nights. This means you’ll work one week Monday through Sunday during the day from 6:00 a.m. to 3:18 p.m., followed by a week off, then a week of night shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., followed by another week off.

Your Team

You’ll be part of our team in the Mining Services division, where we work at the very heart of the mine’s future. Here, you’ll be part of the Slurry Backfill team, a close-knit group consisting of four shift crews of backfill workers and one technician, led by a dedicated supervisor. Together, we ensure that backfilling operations run smoothly and safely, so that the mine can continue to develop. At our company, collaboration, technology, and responsibility are our focus—and you’re an important part of the whole!

Your Responsibilities

  • Installation and routing of backfilling pipes and hoses
  • Inspecting the pipeline network and monitoring the chambers being backfilled.
  • Maintenance work on the pipeline system
  • Close collaboration with the paste plant, mine planning, and underground production

Your contribution

  • High school diploma in a relevant field
  • Class B driver’s license
  • Spoken and written Swedish
  • Good computer and system skills

The following are considered a plus:

  • High school education in construction and civil engineering, industry, or mining
  • Work experience in mining or industry
  • Operator certification for mobile work platforms and certification for hot work
