Chemicals Coordinator, Temporary Position

Would you like to work at one of the world’s most advanced smelters and contribute to a safe and sustainable work environment? As a Chemical Coordinator with us at Boliden Rönnskär, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to work closely with operations and help develop work methods and processes for chemical management. This is a temporary position starting no earlier than September 1 and running through February 28, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Your Role

As a Chemical Coordinator, you will be part of the section for workplace environment, quality/operational development, and safety. You will be responsible for supporting the organization in chemical-related matters pertaining to the environment and the work environment, as well as ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable legislation and internal requirements. The role involves close collaboration with the business, where you will work both operationally on the front lines and contribute to the development of procedures and work methods. You will play a key role in strengthening the safety culture and driving improvements in chemical management. Working hours are during the day, Monday through Friday.

Your Team

You’ll be part of a dedicated team with a strong team culture where knowledge sharing and collaboration are key. The department possesses a broad range of expertise in occupational health and safety and quality, which provides excellent opportunities for learning and development. The role involves frequent interaction with various parts of the organization.

Your Responsibilities

• Support the business in chemical-related matters pertaining to the environment and workplace safety
• Ensure compliance with legislation and internal requirements
• Work with chemical management systems and documentation
• Review and approve chemicals prior to purchase
• Assist in the preparation of safety data sheets
• Contribute to risk assessments and improvement measures
• Train and guide the organization on chemical-related issues
• Participate in the development of procedures and processes
• Report internally and externally within your area of expertise

Your contribution

To succeed in this role, you are organized, meticulous, and have a strong focus on safety. You enjoy working closely with the business and have strong teaching skills that allow you to explain complex issues in a clear and engaging way. You take initiative, drive your work forward, and actively contribute to the team’s collective development.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in chemistry, environmental chemistry, or a related field, as well as several years of professional experience in the field. Alternatively, a degree in occupational health and safety engineering with experience in similar work.
• Practical experience working with chemical issues related to the environment and occupational health and safety in an operational setting.
• Class B driver’s license.

Knowledge of the following is a plus:

• Chemical management systems and safety data sheets.
• Chemical regulations.
• The Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation.
