Your role

As Senior Environmental Coordinator, you are responsible for leading, developing and coordinating the strategic environmental work at Rönnskär. You will be the company's expert in areas such as waste, environmental chemistry, emissions, recipient impact and regulatory dialogues. The role involves conducting complex environmental investigations, developing governing documents and ensuring high quality in our reporting. You will work independently and take initiative, but collaborate closely with both internal and external parties to create long-term and sustainable solutions.

Your team

You will be part of the environmental organization at Rönnskär and collaborate with both environmental coordinators and environmental technicians. The team consists of colleagues with broad experience in environmental work where the environmental coordinators mainly work close to the office and strategically, while the environmental technicians work more practically and field-oriented with sampling and measurement. You are part of several internal and external networks within Boliden and the smelting operations.

Your tasks

  • Conduct and quality assure advanced risk assessments in the environmental field.
  • Lead and implement projects in environmental technical areas and improvement work
  • Support environmental technicians and environmental coordinators in matters requiring deeper expertise
  • Design and further develop policy documents, procedures and environmental guidelines
  • Responsible for environmental reporting and communication with authorities
  • Drive investigations linked to emissions, water treatment, metals and recipient impact
  • Be an expert in permit processes, court cases and supervisory issues
  • Participate in internal forums, training and group-wide networks

Your contribution

You are able to adapt your communication style to the audience and explain advanced environmental issues in a clear and understandable way. You thrive in a role where you combine strategic work with deep specialist knowledge and you contribute to a positive and professional collaboration both locally and within the group. You have the ability to analyze and manage complex environmental data.

We are looking for you who have:

  • Higher education in environmental science, geochemistry, environmental chemistry or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in advanced environmental work, preferably from industry, smelters or mining operations
  • Experience in government contacts, environmental reporting and permit processes
  • Experience of independently running projects or leading work in the environmental field
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English
  • B driving license

Meritatory is if you have:

  • Experience working with metals in the environment and risk modeling
  • Research experience and/or PhD/license degree in environmental chemistry, geochemistry or similar fields
  • Knowledge of waste, inorganic material or mining waste
  • Experience with smelter processes and emissions
  • Experience with GIS and analysis of large amounts of data
  • Experience from remediation or working with contaminated sites
