Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that works long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that shape modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future - what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.

We are looking for you who want to drive the development of geodata management and permitting processes with significance for the whole of Boliden - and who want to grow professionally in an organization with a vision for the future.

Your role

As Head of Geodata for Boliden's Mining business area, you are part of the management team for the Exploration department and are responsible for driving and developing our team and activities within geodata. As part of the management team, you will help develop and implement our exploration strategy, drive growth initiatives and develop the department. As a manager, you will ensure a safe and healthy work environment, lead by example and promote excellence and continuous improvement. You will represent Boliden in a professional manner and report to the Director of Exploration.

Your team

You will lead a dedicated and competent team of specialists including geo-data technicians, database geologists, development engineers and permit administrators related to exploration activities. All teams within the function are represented in the management team, including geodata, near-mine exploration, field exploration, geophysics and research and development. Together and through cross-functional collaboration, you contribute to innovation and sustainable growth for Boliden.

Your tasks

  • Personal responsibility and leadership: You lead and develop a specialist team in geodata, are responsible for recruitment and skills development, and create a safe and stimulating work environment through clear communication and goal management.
  • Strategic Spatial Data Management: In summary, the role involves developing and implementing strategies for the management and development of spatial data issues and running projects that streamline data collection and ensure the quality of information over time. The work also includes the development of advanced methods for collecting, analyzing, interpreting and visualizing geodata in exploration and mining activities.
  • Permitting processes and stakeholder dialogue: You are responsible for permitting issues within the exploration value chain, coordinate contact with authorities and other stakeholders, and drive and follow up on permitting processes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Through good and proactive communication and collaboration internally and externally, you contribute to smooth and efficient processes.
  • Quality and data security: In summary, you are responsible for developing, implementing and following up procedures for data quality, data security and long-term usability of geodata and information. You will lead improvement projects focusing on standardization and reliability, as well as conduct internal audits and trainings to raise quality awareness in the team. The role also involves participating in the management team, contributing to strategy development and collaborating cross-functionally to drive innovation and efficiency within the exploration business.
  • Location and travel: The position is located in Boliden and involves travel to mining sites and meetings with external stakeholders.

Your contribution

  • Education: You have a college or university degree in earth sciences, geoinformatics or geography, alternatively in database management, or law with a good understanding of exploration and mineral law and a strong technical interest.
  • Experience: You are working or have worked in exploration, database management and/or permitting issues related to natural resource legislation, environmental law or mining law. You are used to managing and being responsible for staff and/or operations and preferably from a complex organization. Experience from a similar business, consulting firm or government agency is an advantage. You should also have a good knowledge of exploration and related working methods.
  • Competencies: With a deep understanding of exploration, laws and licensing processes, you have a good ability to communicate, lead specialists and coordinate internal and external collaboration. You are also interested in both technical and legal issues.
  • Language: Fluent language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, are needed as you deal with mining law issues in Sweden and the corporate language is English. As the position involves many contact routes, both with internal and external stakeholders and authorities, you should be a good communicator.
  • Driving license: Driving license B, for passenger car, is necessary for you to be able to visit our workplaces and operations.
