We are now looking for a Head of Systems Engineering - a strategically central leadership role with responsibility for shaping, managing and developing technical systems that are crucial for the mines and processing plants of the future within Boliden Mines.

Your mission

In the role of Head of Systems Engineering, you have a business area-wide responsibility for technology development within Boliden Mines. You ensure that technical systems, architecture and working methods support safety, sustainability and business benefits - both operationally and in the long term.

You have a clear mandate to set the direction, prioritize and create common conditions for technology development in close collaboration with operations, investment, IT / OT and external partners.

Responsibilities and main focus areas

  • Set strategic direction and prioritize technology development within Boliden Mines
  • Establish and manage system strategies, standards and common ways of working
  • Lead and develop the department's three sections and senior key roles
  • Ensure effective collaboration between operations, investment projects, IT/OT and R&D
  • Translate technical opportunities in areas such as electrification, automation and digitalization into robust operations and long-term business benefits


About the Systems Engineering department

Systems Engineering is part of Boliden Mines' technology organization and acts as a strategic hub between operations, technology development, investments and research.

The department is responsible for the development and control of technical systems in both mines and concentrators and is organized in three complementary sections:

  • Electrification & Automation, Mobile Machines (MOB) - electrified, autonomous and safe mobile systems in and above ground
  • Electrification, Instrumentation & Automation (EIA) - fixed plants, infrastructure, OT systems, standards and compliance in electricity and automation
  • Process Control & Analysis (PCA) - advanced process control, modeling and data analysis for optimized and resource-efficient production


Qualifications

  • Technical college or university education, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Several years of experience in managerial and leadership roles in technical or industrial operations
  • Experience in leading change management and strategic technology shifts in complex environments
  • Experience in operations management including budget, follow-up and prioritization
  • Experience from mining, process or other heavy industry
  • Broad technical systems understanding in one or more of the areas of systems engineering and automation, electricity and electrification, advanced process control and industrial IT/OT
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, in speech and writing


Advantageous

  • Experience working close to operations and operational activities on site
  • Experience leading specialist and expert organizations
  • In-depth competence in automation, OT/IT, electrification or process control
  • Authorization EL A or AL
  • Experience in R&D collaborations with universities, universities or research institutes
