Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that takes a long-term approach to ensuring society’s access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future—what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.

Would you like to work in one of the world’s most modern and digitized industries? In Garpenberg, Boliden operates a highly automated and stable process where quality and safety are paramount. We are now looking for a Laboratory Assistant who wants to contribute to reliable analyses and thereby ensure stable process control, metal recovery, and production efficiency.

Your Role

As a Laboratory Assistant, you are a key part of quality assurance within the beneficiation process. You will ensure that analyses of ore and process samples meet high technical standards and are used as a basis for decision-making in production. The role encompasses the entire chain, from sampling and sample preparation to analysis, reporting, and equipment maintenance, in a safety-critical and process-oriented environment.

The work is hands-on and varied, and takes place largely on the shop floor and in the laboratory.

This is a collective position with daytime working hours, Monday through Friday.

Your Team

You will be part of the laboratory within the process department and work closely with process engineers, operators, and management. The work takes place within an experienced team with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and sample preparation from various stages of the enrichment process
  • Perform chemical and instrumental analyses such as XRF, ICP, screening, and wet chemical analyses.
  • Ensure the operation, calibration, functional testing, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Document and report analysis data in LIMS and internal systems with high traceability
  • Work in accordance with established procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of methods, procedures, and work practices
  • Actively participate in health and safety, security, and 5S initiatives

Your Contribution

You work in a structured and meticulous manner and have a strong commitment to quality in every step of the process. You thrive in an environment where multiple tasks are carried out simultaneously and where your ability to plan and prioritize is crucial. You appreciate work that combines theory and practice, where you both analyze results and perform hands-on work in the laboratory. Your work style allows you to perform repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy, even when the work involves standing, moving around the facility, and physically handling materials.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • High school education in natural sciences (Chemistry) and/or post-secondary education in chemistry, laboratory technology, or equivalent
  • Experience with laboratory work, preferably in an industrial process environment
  • Experience with sample collection and sample preparation
  • Knowledge of instrumental analytical methods (e.g., XRF, ICP, wet chemistry)
  • Experience working with LIMS or equivalent systems
  • Very good command of Swedish and English
  • Class B driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Experience with mineral processing or the mining industry
  • Experience with equipment calibration and basic maintenance
