For fixed underground facilities - temporary position
Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that works long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that shape modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future - what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.
We are now looking for a temporary mechanic for the underground fixed plant department. The temporary position will start as soon as possible or as agreed, until the end of August 2026.
Your role
As a mechanic at Fixed Mechanics, you mainly work with preventive maintenance and repairs of fixed installations above and below ground. Fixed installations consist of, among other things, our rock winch (elevator for feeding ore from the mine) and person winch (elevator for feeding people down and up from the mine), a number of pumping stations and two crushers with associated conveyors and feeders underground. We have a strong focus on preventive work, which includes working with continuous improvements. There is physically heavy work.
The working hours are daytime underground, four days a week. Even weeks Mon-Thurs, odd weeks Tues-Fri. Shift work during rope stops occurs. Standby is part of the service, but will only be applied once you have achieved a good knowledge of the tasks and feel confident in the role.
Your team
You will work in a close-knit team of 10 mechanics. The work is done in teams of two or more people, which requires good collaboration skills and clear communication. The work involves problem solving independently as well as in the group.
