Project Manager for Environmental Permits for Boliden’s Mining Operations
Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that works with a long-term perspective to secure society’s access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future. What matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.
Your Opportunity
Would you like to lead complex environmental permitting processes that are crucial for both current and future mining operations?
As a project manager with us, you’ll have a broad and varied role at the intersection of technology, the environment, and law. You’ll manage processes from the initial phase—where an application is defined—through environmental surveys, technical studies, environmental impact assessments, and proposals for protective measures. The work may also include processing concessions and probationary period reviews after a permit has been granted, as well as overarching environmental issues.
You’ll work from many different perspectives and collaborate both internally and externally. This role gives you the opportunity to contribute both specialized knowledge and a clear, holistic perspective on issues that have long-term significance for our operations.
Who You’ll Be Working With
You’ll be part of an experienced team with broad expertise in areas such as the environment, chemicals, water issues, regulatory compliance, and quality. The team is led by Malin Suup.
The work is cross-functional and involves collaboration with Boliden’s various mining operations, the business development unit, and other parts of the organization. You will also collaborate with internal and external specialists in areas such as the environment, water, waste management, and environmental law, as well as with government agencies and external partners.
The position is based in Boliden; however, other options can be discussed based on circumstances and needs.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Here’s what you’ll bring to the table
To succeed in this role, you need to be able to create structure and momentum in long and complex processes. You listen to different needs, see the big picture, and help stakeholders find solutions and possible paths forward.
You communicate with confidence and clarity and are comfortable taking a leadership role without being a formal manager. An interest in technology and the environment, combined with problem-solving and innovation, will help you translate requirements and analyses into feasible solutions.
We believe you have:
Experience with permitting processes in the mining industry is a plus. Experience in, for example, hydropower, wind power, or waste and water management may also be relevant to the role.
We are primarily looking for candidates with solid, relevant experience. At the same time, we are open to evaluating the potential of candidates with less experience who have a strong foundation in one of the role’s core areas of expertise.
Why You Should Choose Us
At Boliden, we want to create a workplace where care, courage, and responsibility are central to everything we do. We believe in collaboration and that every employee’s contribution can make a difference for future generations. We are responsible and creative people working toward the same vision: to become the world’s most sustainable and respected metals supplier.
In this role, you’ll combine technology, the environment, and law in a varied work environment. You’ll work closely with experts, business units, government agencies, and other stakeholders while contributing to solutions that enable long-term sustainable mining operations.
