Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that takes a long-term approach to ensuring society’s access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future—what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.

Would you like to work in a role where you help ensure that people can do their jobs safely and securely every day? As a safety technician at the Garpenberg Mine, you play a vital role in ensuring that safety equipment, systems, and controls function properly. Your work lays the groundwork for sustainable operations. Here, you’ll enjoy a varied workday with a high degree of autonomy and many opportunities to make a difference.

Your Role

As a safety officer, you are responsible for planning, conducting, and following up on inspections of safety-related equipment and operations. You’ll work systematically with inspections, documentation, and follow-up to ensure compliance with requirements and procedures. A major focus will be on ensuring the functionality and availability of our rescue chambers. The role involves close collaboration with various parts of the organization, where you’ll contribute your expertise to identify opportunities for improvement and create long-term, sustainable work practices. Through your work, you’ll help ensure that operations are conducted in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner.

Your Team

You’ll be part of our Health and Safety department, where we work together to create a safe work environment for all employees and contractors. The team consists of dedicated colleagues with broad expertise in occupational health and safety and risk prevention. We value knowledge sharing, collaboration, and an open environment where questions and ideas are welcomed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of fire protection systems, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and availability of rescue chambers, emergency showers, eye wash stations, and AEDs.
  • Inspect and monitor safety equipment and barrier materials.
  • Document inspection results and manage follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate activities related to safety equipment in collaboration with the business unit.
  • Conduct occupational hygiene measurements and contribute to monitoring the work environment.
  • Manage work orders and administer information in the company’s systems.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of work environment and safety efforts.

Your Contribution

We believe you’ll thrive in a role where attention to detail, collaboration, and accountability are a natural part of your daily routine. You have the ability to create structure and work methodically, even when multiple tasks need to be handled simultaneously. You are comfortable working independently, but through your communication style, you build trusting relationships and collaborate well with various professional groups to find solutions and drive the work forward.

You take responsibility for following up on what you’ve started and ensure that tasks are carried out with high quality and attention to safety. At the same time, you have a proactive approach to your work, identifying risks, recognizing opportunities for improvement, and contributing constructive suggestions that strengthen the business over time.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in industry, a mining environment, or another environment with high safety requirements
  • Good technical understanding
