Senior Development Engineer for Boliden Rönnskär
Rönnskär in Skelleftehamn is one of the world's most efficient copper smelters. The facility receives deliveries of copper and lead concentrate from our own mines, as well as from external suppliers. Copper, gold and silver are mainly extracted from these materials. Rönnskär is our largest production unit and one of the largest private employers in the region.
Job duties
The section for Process and Product Development at Boliden Rönnskär in Skellefteå is looking for reinforcements with a Senior Development Engineer as one of our experienced employees retires.
As a Development Engineer, you work to develop and streamline our metallurgical processes. The duties also include supporting the production organization. You initiate, drive and participate in qualified investigations and trials. The work is often carried out independently but always in consultation with others and sometimes also in project form. You will work together with colleagues within the section but also with operating personnel in various production sections. The work has both theoretical and practical elements.
This position in particular will have a slightly more practical orientation and will work a lot with melting trials, developing melting recipes, manufacturing standards, sampling and sample preparation from trials and tests, running with TG-MS (Thermographic Wave with Mass Spectroscopy) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) as well as also participate in normal tasks as a Development Engineer.
This is either something you already have experience with or would like to learn. Initial training will take place in parallel with the current Development Engineer.
The work has been moved to Rönnskär. Travel may occur, but is of a shorter nature. You report to the Head of Section and also to various project groups.

The work as a Development Engineer involves many different contact surfaces both within the organization and with external parties, it is therefore important that you are communicative and have an open approach. For this type of role, you as a person are required to be curious and have a creative side. Furthermore, important qualities are that you are persistent and self-motivated in your way of working, as the tasks can be complex and take time. To be successful in the role, we also see that you are meticulous and have an analytical approach to issues.
