In Gällivare municipality, we have a unit with all authority exercise in the social services areas. The assistance unit has an operation with two Operations Managers, one for the group of children and young people and one for the group of adults, in addition we have a coordinator in each group.

The adult unit consists of social workers who investigate substance abuse, social psychiatry/social support, domestic violence and employment/self-sufficiency as well as social workers for elderly care. We also deal with financial assistance and estates. The adult unit includes a family care center and outpatient care for adult abuse.

Duties

As an authority practitioner in elderly care, you are responsible for working with the individual to investigate, assess and decide on interventions under the Social Services Act. You work from a holistic approach where the individual's ability and sense of meaningfulness are taken into account.

As an employee, you focus on quality, development and legal certainty with a focus on the individual, based on the Social Services Act. The service is focused on investigation in elderly care where you make assessments of needs and various assistance such as home care, special housing and short-term housing. We work according to IBIC and the work is based on the Social Services Act.

In the work of the unit, we collaborate with other colleagues in our business and with other partners. The unit has reduced working hours and support from experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a social worker or have another experience that the employer considers equivalent. You must be able to work independently with case management and you must have good knowledge of current legislation.

As a person, you have good social skills, and are easy to cooperate with others but also able to work independently. You should have empathy and be able to communicate easily with users, relatives and coworkers.

It is positive if you are easy to handle when conditions and planning change in the work and that you can be flexible based on what needs arise in the work. It is important that you have good ability to express yourself in both speech and writing. You will contribute to developing working methods and your approach should be characterized by commitment, drive and the ability to take responsibility. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.


Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours/Duration

Full-time, until further notice

The assistance unit has a working time reduction, with 2.5 hours per week at full-time work, which means that the working hours are 35.92 hours / week
