Job Description

Diversity, efficiency, innovation, and attractiveness!

The municipality’s core values—MENA (Diversity, Efficiency, Innovation, and Attractiveness)—are a natural part of your leadership style.

We are looking for a positive, organized, and self-motivated individual who is a team player and enjoys working in a group. We place great emphasis on leadership qualities and ensuring you are the right fit for the team you will join. Qualities we value include being responsive and having the ability to build trust and foster a collaborative environment.

We are expanding our team with Assistant Shift Leaders across our 4 shift teams. At Gällivare Rescue Services, you’ll work as a key team member in a small organization. We cover a large geographical area, ranging from mines to mountains and vast mountain forests. Most of the municipality’s residents live in the town of Gällivare, where our full-time station is also located. In our villages, we have five volunteer fire departments that assist us by being first on the scene and providing initial assistance.

We handle approximately 300 emergency calls per year.

We collaborate with our neighboring municipalities and the industrial fire departments in the area.

Working in the municipality of Gällivare is characterized by job satisfaction, commitment, and respect for the equal value of all people. At Gällivare Rescue Services, it goes without saying that everyone should feel accepted and enjoy their work, regardless of origin or gender.

Gällivare Rescue Service strives to be an attractive workplace where employees are given opportunities for personal development.

Team Leader, Gällivare Municipality

As an Assistant Team Leader, you will supervise staff in both daily operations and emergency response. You will work closely with the regular team leader on the shift. Together, you will plan and be responsible for the daily work at the station, as well as other tasks related to preventive and operational activities.

Being a team leader involves leading and planning your own and the team’s work based on the entire emergency services’ mission, which means that you and your staff will work on both accident prevention and damage mitigation tasks.

You are independently responsible for your own cases and tasks, but the work also requires close collaboration with colleagues and other agencies in your area.

The emergency services in Gällivare Municipality are currently being developed, and you will therefore play a natural role in the work to improve and develop the processes, procedures, and working methods within the organization. You are expected to have the ambition and desire to develop the organization in accordance with the municipality’s operational goals, together with the unit manager.

In the role of team leader, you will also be in contact with Gällivare residents, businesses, other government agencies, and similar entities.

We are looking for a positive, organized, and self-motivated person who is able to collaborate and enjoys working in a team. We place great emphasis on leadership qualities and ensuring you are the right fit for the team you will join. Qualities we value include being responsive and having the ability to build trust and foster a collaborative environment.

You should have several years of experience working in emergency services.

We expect you to have a good understanding of the Act on Protection against Accidents and other laws and regulations that govern and affect the work of emergency services.

We require that you have strong computer skills in commonly used software programs and are able to express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing, in order to, among other things, train your own staff and members of the community. You are independent, responsible, and able to communicate both verbally and in writing in a manner that inspires confidence.

You must be committed to helping drive the organization’s future development.

Since the emergency services are undergoing an intensive transformation process and the work involves significant challenges, we place great importance on your flexibility and willingness to adapt to change. We also view it as a positive if you have experience working in a politically governed organization.

To thrive in the role of team leader, you need the ability to make well-founded decisions on your own based on the organization’s core values and goals. It is important that you have a broad perspective and can see the big picture in your approach to work.

As an assistant team leader, you must also be able to serve as a firefighter and in the role of smoke diver leader.

Before employment begins, an aptitude test will be conducted, and you must pass a medical examination; to be hired, you must be certified as a smoke diver in accordance with the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations.
