
Description of Operations
The Social Services Administration carries out activities mandated by law in accordance with the Social Services Act, the Health and Medical Care Act, and the Act on Support and Services for Certain Persons with Disabilities. Based on democratic principles, the Social Services Administration shall promote people’s economic and social security, equality in living conditions, and active participation in society, while also providing quality care, health and medical care, and services to older adults, people with disabilities, and others who need societal support.
The Social Services Administration consists of the Assistance Unit, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department of Functional Support, the Department of Home Care, as well as the Management Support Organization and the Health and Medical Care Organization. As Assistant Unit Manager, you will take on a role that is both broad in scope and meaningful. You will lead our nurses and rehabilitation staff alongside the Unit Manager and Operations Manager in our health and medical care organization. You will be part of our healthcare management team alongside the nurse in charge of medical care, the rehabilitation coordinator, the quality and training nurse, and the operations manager. The unit’s mission encompasses ordinary housing, specialized housing for the elderly, and LSS/psychiatric housing.
Job Responsibilities
You will be part of the department’s healthcare management team and report directly to the operations manager. You will work to ensure high patient safety and a positive work environment for employees. Operations are governed by applicable laws and procedures. As deputy unit manager, you will work closely with day-to-day operations to support the unit manager and the operations manager. The role is based on clear responsibility for patients, employees, finances, the work environment, and operational development within the unit. The unit is managed through a results-oriented approach based on policy-driven goal-setting and self-monitoring.
Qualifications
You have a university or college degree relevant to the position. A background in healthcare is advantageous, as is familiarity with the legislation governing our field of operation. Previous leadership experience and experience with administrative tasks such as scheduling and finance are also advantageous. You are responsible and accustomed to working independently and in a goal-oriented manner, and you have the ability to find new solutions. You also have strong collaboration skills with colleagues, family members, and other professional groups. You must have basic computer skills and experience working with various types of IT programs to support your work. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.
A Class B driver’s license is required.
Work Hours/Duration
Permanent, full-time position (100%). A probationary period may apply.
