Make a difference in children’s daily lives—work at the preschool’s pool!

Are you looking for a varied and meaningful job where you can engage with children’s curiosity, joy of discovery, and creativity? We’re looking for someone who wants to help create a safe and educational daily life for our youngest residents. With us, you’ll work with different teams, get to know several preschools, and grow alongside the children and your colleagues.

Gällivare Municipality operates preschools in Gällivare, Malmberget, and Koskullskulle, as well as in Dokkas, Hakkas, and Puoltikasvaara, and provides educational childcare in Tjautjas. Here, we work with children ages 1–5 and collaborate to provide each child with care, a sense of security, and ample opportunities to grow and learn.

The preschool staff pool is an important part of our operations. As a member of the pool, you’ll reinforce staffing where needed and help create a great day for both children and colleagues. You’ll be employed as part of the pool and will work at our preschools for both short- and long-term periods. Your assignments will vary, and you may work at several preschools in the same week, including those in rural areas.

Job Responsibilities

You will participate in the preschool’s daily activities and help create an environment where children feel safe, included, and eager to learn. Together with the work team, you’ll participate in planned activities and teaching under the guidance of preschool teachers, based on the preschool curriculum.

The work includes play, creative activities, and outdoor time, as well as care and daily routines. You will support the children’s interactions, encourage their initiative, and meet each child’s needs based on their individual circumstances.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues and contribute to providing a warm and welcoming experience for parents and guardians. As part of the staff pool, you’ll need to be able to join different work teams and adapt to the preschools’ routines.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to contribute to their sense of security, development, and learning. Training as a childcare worker is a plus, but not required. Experience working with children or other relevant education is also a plus.

You are dedicated, attentive, and have a positive outlook on children and their abilities. You build strong relationships, collaborate well, and take responsibility for your tasks. Since the job involves interacting with different groups of children and work teams, you need to be flexible and confident in taking initiative.

You must have a good command of Swedish, both spoken and written. A Class B driver’s license and access to your own car are required, as travel between preschools is part of the job. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Proficiency in any of these languages is considered a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

Work Hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent position—a probationary period may apply.
