Description of Operations

Myranskolan has approximately 150 students from preschool through 6th grade, as well as an after-school care program. The school is located in Koskullskulle. Myranskolan has a lead teacher and a class mentor who primarily focus on the social aspects of the curriculum in each class in grades 1–6. The after-school program complements the school curriculum by developing students’ abilities through various forms of expression, based on their interests. The school also has special education teachers, a school counselor, and a school nurse who work together as a team for the students’ best interests.

Job Responsibilities

As a class mentor, you will supervise a class in grades 1–6 throughout the day and, together with the teachers, be responsible for fostering a sense of security, well-being, and a conducive learning environment. You will be an active resource in the classroom and after-school program, and you will also be responsible for supervising recess and organizing recess activities. You will be in contact with parents and guardians regarding social issues and will therefore share responsibility with teachers for documenting norms and values. The role also includes covering for staff members when they are absent from the school and the after-school program. Your work involves responsibilities and duties at the after-school program, both before and after school.

Qualifications

At least a high school diploma, training in early childhood education and/or after-school care, certification as an after-school program activity leader, or other training deemed equivalent or relevant by the employer. Experience in fostering a sense of security and promoting the school’s core values, principles, and norms. Experience from schools, after-school programs, and/or other settings where you have led groups of children is a plus.

You should have strong interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, proactive, responsible, and treat colleagues, students, and parents with respect. We expect you to have strong communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written Swedish. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
