Description of Operations
The Finance Department consists of Financial Management/Accounting, Financial Administrators, and Purchasing. The Financial Management unit handles overall budget, financial statement, and monitoring processes. It provides the municipal departments, committees, and boards with expert controller support on financial and strategic matters.
You will be part of the Support and Development Administration (SoU), which is the municipality’s central unit for development, administration, finance, human resources, IT, and information. Your position is located in the Finance Department/Financial Management Unit, and you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is focused on the Support and Development Administration.
Job Responsibilities
As a controller, you will be part of a team of seven other controllers/financial analysts who manage the municipality’s overall finances and support the municipality’s operations in budget processes, financial monitoring and analysis, investigations, case preparation, and reporting, etc. Your role is to drive and lead financial development within the various departments, as well as overall development in collaboration with the entire Finance Department. The Finance Office has just transitioned to a new financial system, Unit4 ERP, so there are still some training and development issues to address in which the controller will be involved.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a college degree—preferably a master’s degree—in financial management or another relevant field, as well as experience that the employer deems relevant. Experience working in public administration is a plus but not a requirement. In your work, you will have many personal interactions, so it is important that you enjoy working with people, have a knack for teaching, are solution-oriented, and possess a strong sense of service; an interest in social issues is also a plus. We require that you are proficient in the Microsoft Office suite—particularly Excel—and that you communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
