The Labor Market Unit has an important social mission—to support and guide people who are outside the regular labor market toward self-sufficiency through work or education. The unit comprises seven different workplaces with varying focuses. We are also responsible for receiving and settling newly arrived immigrants who have been assigned to Gällivare. The municipality’s summer jobs for youth, as well as the municipal responsibility for activities for young people who do not complete high school, are also tasks that fall under the Labor Market Unit.
Job Responsibilities
As a coordinator, you will play a central role in implementing the activity requirement under the Social Services Act (SoL), with a focus on supporting individuals receiving financial assistance to transition into the regular labor market.
As a coordinator, you will also work alongside the management team and political leadership to develop and coordinate the administration’s work on various issues. The role requires a high degree of flexibility, as the organization constantly faces new challenges. This means that your duties may vary over time and involve a combination of administrative and operational tasks across all our operations. Qualifications
Holds a college degree in, for example, social work, behavioral sciences, or another field that the employer deems relevant to the position. Experience working with people who have physical and/or mental disabilities. Possess strong administrative skills and are accustomed to handling follow-ups, financial matters, and have good computer skills. To succeed in this role, you are a confident, dedicated, and solution-oriented colleague who is communicative and team-oriented. You are organized, with strong prioritization skills, and are empathetic with a genuine interest in people. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
A Class B driver’s license is required.
Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is considered a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.
Work Hours/Duration
Full-time, permanent position. A probationary period may apply.
