Description of activities

Education health should be seen as an area of activity that includes medical, psychological, psychosocial and special educational interventions and is part of the school's learning mission and the overall work for good health. The promotional and preventive work should be emphasized and conducted salutogenic and with an inclusive approach.

Work tasks

You will belong to the central student health in the municipality, your colleagues at the student health are other school counselors, school nurses, school doctors, special educators, school psychologists and administrators. Close and developing cooperation within the central student health service is an important and fundamental part of the work. You will be placed in one of the municipality's schools. You will usually work alone, but with the support of colleagues, which requires a high degree of independence. The work as a school counselor is varied and involves students' conversations with the school counselor, guidance, consultation, continuing education efforts, crisis work, social investigations, drawing up action plans and support for students, parents, educators and principals. You will work towards Myranskolan, Mariaskolan and to some extent Sjöparksskolan. You are part of the school's local student health team at Myran and Mariaskolan. Furthermore, you collaborate with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry and child rehabilitation.

Qualifications

Socionomexamen. Experience of working with children and young people is an advantage. Driving license required as the work is carried out at several different school units. An extract from the police's criminal record is required for employment. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. The work is independent and requires you to be able to act independently and responsibly. It is important that you have good cooperation and collaboration skills. Good communication and social skills are essential. You must be positive, able to take initiative and be solution-oriented. Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours/Duration

100% service from 1/9-31/12 2025, substituting for the regular school psychologist during his/her absence. We apply vacation service with flex agreement.
