We need more firefighters for our four shift teams. At Gällivare Rescue Service, you work as one of 5 players in a small organization. We have a large geographical area to handle, everything from mines to mountains and vast mountain forests. Most of the municipality's inhabitants live in the urban area of Gällivare, where our full-time station is also located, centrally located in the town center. In our villages we have five rescue teams that help us by being first on the scene and able to help initially. We handle around 300 alarms per year. We have cooperation with our neighboring municipalities, and the industrial fire departments in the area. Tasks

As a firefighter with us, we want you to get involved in our various areas of activity based on your interest and suitability. You will work with accident prevention work such as supervision, information and training, therefore we want you to be good at talking to people and building trust. When the alarm goes off, you are one of us who must be able to handle the incident as quickly as possible in a professional and efficient manner. To do this, we need to train and maintain our vehicles and equipment. We work shifts with work every other weekend.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an interest, willingness and ability to help others. You need to be able to exercise judgment and behave calmly, steadily and with control in stressful situations. The job requires practical, physical and social skills. It is important that you have a positive attitude, are a good team player and can also work independently. Great importance is attached to personal suitability. Ability to work at heights and not be claustrophobic. Before employment, interviews and work-related and physical tests will be carried out.

  • Driving license at least B
  • Approved treadmill test according to AFS 2007: 7 (not older than 3 months) is attached to the application.
  • Good swimming skills at least Guldbojen-certificate attached to the application
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
  • Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours / Duration

Full time until further notice, Probationary period 6 months is applied
