
Description of Operations
The Social Services Administration carries out activities mandated by law in accordance with the Social Services Act, the Health and Medical Care Act, and the Act on Support and Services for Certain Persons with Disabilities. Based on democratic principles, the Social Services Administration shall promote people’s economic and social security, equality in living conditions, and active participation in society, while also providing quality care, health and medical care, and services to older adults, people with disabilities, and others who need societal support. We are now seeking a unit manager for the Health and Social Care Department.
Job Responsibilities
As a unit manager, you will work closely with the operations and in an operational capacity, with clear responsibility for service users, employees, the work environment, and finances within your unit. You will lead and manage the unit through a results-oriented approach based on policy-driven goals and self-monitoring. You will be part of the Health and Social Care Department’s management team and report directly to the department head. In collaboration with the management team, you will be responsible for your unit as well as for the department as a whole. To support your role, you will have supervisors and other unit managers within the department and the Social Services Administration, as well as support from municipality-wide functions such as Human Resources and Finance.

You have the ability to interact with people and build trust and a sense of security within the organization and with our service users. We want you to see opportunities, be open to innovative thinking, and have the ability to inspire your colleagues. The position requires leadership and collaboration skills. Education in human resources and finance is also a plus. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Since we are a municipality responsible for administering the minority languages Sami, Finnish, and Meänkieli, we view proficiency in any of these languages as a plus.
