Job Description

As a lead teacher in the Municipality of Gällivare, your role is to serve as a positive, educational role model by fostering professional development within your department and throughout the entire Municipality of Gällivare. As a lead teacher, you already hold a teaching position at the school, and any vacant teaching positions are advertised separately. In your role as a lead teacher, you will work alongside another lead teacher to support all staff groups in the municipality in their efforts to strengthen pedagogical development work in order to achieve higher goal attainment in the subject of Swedish.

Job Responsibilities

Primarily, you will work as a lead teacher on behalf of the Children and Education Administration with responsibility for:

  • Teaching and other tasks related to teaching.
  • General pedagogical development.
  • Systematic quality assurance.
  • Mentoring other teachers.
  • Leading processes aimed at improving the school’s achievement of learning objectives.

Being a lead teacher in the Municipality of Gällivare also means that, on behalf of the administration, you are responsible for: development through collegial learning at the municipal/cross-administrative level within the framework of Swedish.

Qualifications

You must hold a teaching license, have four years of certified teaching experience, possess a strong ability to improve results, have a keen interest in developing instruction, and be particularly qualified for the teaching and related tasks involved. To succeed in the role of lead teacher, we expect you to be a clear leader with the ability to build and maintain good relationships with students, staff, and parents. You have a particularly strong ability to stay focused on achieving goals through follow-up and analysis. Your approach to school development is grounded in modern educational research, and you have a clear focus on results as well as the ability to view the entire school organization as a learning organization. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a plus when applying for a position in Gällivare Municipality.

Work Hours/Duration

100%, fixed-term employment (general fixed-term) for three years. The assignment must fit within regular working hours and be included in the work schedule.

Salary

Monthly salary. As a lead teacher, the salary is set at the teacher’s regular salary plus 5,000 SEK per month.
