Description of activities
The position of minority coordinator, divided into 100% in each part. The position is located in the Board and Investigation Department, which is a department within the Support and Development Administration. The department is responsible for guardianship activities, committee administration, the municipality's archives, consumer guidance, strategic issues regarding digitization, environment, accessibility, public health, minority languages, investigation, etc. The work is based on municipally adopted goals, current legislation and international and national commitments. The role is both strategic and operational and involves collaboration with both internal and external actors. You act as coordinator, rapporteur and secretary in the municipality's minority language council and are responsible for preparing and presenting cases to the municipality's management groups, political bodies and consultation forums. A special responsibility rests with you to ensure that consultation takes place in accordance with the Act (2022:66) on consultation in matters relating to the Sami people. The position includes annually administering and convening consultations with the Sámi villages in the fall, as well as coordinating and handling matters for the consultation meeting on the snowmobile ban in the spring. You are the contact point for all issues relating to national minorities and represent the municipality as a referral body in such matters. You will also be responsible for the administration and coordination of the Support and Development Administration's consultations, and handle other matters linked to minority issues. As Minority Coordinator, you are expected to have a very good understanding of the workings of a politically governed organization and the ability to work on complex issues where consultation, dialogue and respect are key elements.
Qualifications
The position requires a university degree in social sciences, public administration, law or other relevant field. You should have experience of strategic work in the public sector and good knowledge of the rights of national minorities and the legislation governing the area. Experience of administration, coordination and communication in complex contexts is a prerequisite.
You are structured, self-motivated and have good collaboration skills. The role requires very good communication skills, both oral and written, as well as a strong ability to build trusting relationships in an often multifaceted collaborative landscape.
