Description of Operations

The Social Services Administration conducts activities governed by law in accordance with the Social Services Act, the Health and Medical Care Act, and the Act on Support and Services for Certain Persons with Disabilities. Based on democratic principles, the Social Services Administration shall promote people’s economic and social security, equality in living conditions, and active participation in society, while also providing quality care, health and medical care, and services to older adults, people with disabilities, and others who need societal support. The Social Services Administration consists of the Assistance Unit, the Department of Care and Nursing, the Department of Functional Support, the Department of Home Care, as well as the Management Support Organization and the Health and Medical Care Organization. As an occupational therapist, you will have a role that is both broad in scope and meaningful. You will be part of the Health and Medical Care Organization, and the role involves work in ordinary housing, specialized housing for the elderly, and LSS/psychiatry.

Job Responsibilities

As an occupational therapist, you’ll take a person-centered approach to strengthening each individual’s independence and participation in daily life. You will meet people with diverse needs and circumstances and work in both preventive and rehabilitative capacities.

Job Responsibilities for Occupational Therapists:

  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments and follow-ups.
  • Test, prescribe, and follow up on occupational therapy assistive devices.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to create a holistic approach for the individual.
  • Work on education and outreach regarding preventive measures.
  • Contribute to operational development.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a licensed occupational therapist
  • Has a strong ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Have a solution-focused approach.
  • Find it easy to collaborate and build good relationships. We place great emphasis on personal fit.
  • Are confident in making assessments, documenting, and following up on interventions.
  • Experience working in local government.
  • A driver’s license is required
  • Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

Work Hours/Duration

Permanent position, Full-time daytime position.
