Description of Operations

Tallbacka Preschool is a three-section preschool located in the same building as Tallbacka School in the Mellanområdet neighborhood of Gällivare. The classes are currently mixed-age groups for children ages 1–5, with a maximum of 18 children in each group. The preschool is very close to nature in the Mellanområdet neighborhood and uses this natural environment as a learning setting in its work with the children.

Tallbacka Preschool operates based on the principles of sustainable development and gender equality, with a clear focus on the 2018 Preschool Curriculum. Tallbacka Preschool, together with Granbacka and Aurora Preschools, is part of a collegial network where we collaborate and exchange experiences. Our operations are safe and well-established. We use a project-based approach in our work with the children, and it is the children’s interests and input that form the basis for how our teaching is structured. We spend a lot of time outdoors and use nature as the foundation for the children’s learning and development.

Job Responsibilities

To lead the educational work with the children’s group together with the work team and other colleagues at the preschool. As a preschool teacher, you are responsible for ensuring that instruction at the preschool is based on the curriculum. You take responsibility for planning, implementation, and reflection within the work team, and for carrying out systematic quality assurance work in collaboration with other colleagues and work teams at the preschool. The children should be given new challenges and receive support and stimulation for their development and learning. We are looking for someone who sees opportunities and wants to help create the preschool of the future in Gällivare.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed preschool teacher who wants to help develop our exciting preschool program. It is important that you are well-versed in our guiding documents, that you are a clear leader, and that you are independent, responsible, and able to take initiative. You are positive, have faith in the children’s abilities, and are interested in using digital tools. As an educator, you value trusting relationships with children and parents; you have strong collaboration skills and utilize pedagogical conversations and educational documentation in your work with the children.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Proficiency in any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

Work Hours/Duration

Full-time (100%) Permanent position. A probationary period may apply.
