Do you want to work with the development of a new school structure and make a real difference for children and students' everyday lives? We are now looking for a project manager to lead the implementation of Gällivare municipality's new school structure.

Gällivare municipality has primary schools and preschools both centrally and in rural areas. Our 9 primary schools vary in size and are led by 6 principals and 5 deputy principals. Preschool activities consist of 13 preschools and pedagogical care. The Children and Education Board has taken a policy decision on a new long-term sustainable school structure. Now the work is entering an implementation phase where structure, premises, organization and student flows will be coordinated in a controlled and strategic way. For this work, we are looking for a project manager

Tasks

As project manager, you are responsible for developing an implementation plan for decisions on the final school structure and planning, coordinating and driving the implementation of the decided school structure.

The assignment means that you:

• develop a comprehensive implementation plan with a timetable, financial impact analyses and risk assessments
• lead and coordinate the implementation according to the decided direction
• coordinate issues related to premises, student flows and school transport
• ensure structure in personnel and organizational changes
• collaborate with principals, trade unions and other stakeholders
• responsible for financial follow-up and impact assessments
• produces documentation for the administrative management and the board
• works closely with the communication department in change communication
• The assignment is strategic and requires a holistic perspective, structure and the ability to create collaboration in a politically governed organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• relevant higher education in, for example, education, social sciences, economics, public administration or equivalent
• experience in leading major development or change projects
• good understanding of public operations and politically governed organization
• experience in collaboration with trade unions
• good analytical and organizational skills

It is an advantage if you have experience from school or education activities and work in a municipal organization. You are structured, communicative and confident in leading processes without formal staff responsibility. You have the ability to build trust, handle complex issues and work solution-oriented in a change environment. We attach great importance to personal suitability. Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
