Description of Operations

This position is part of the Support and Development Administration.

Gällivare Municipality has been awarded a state grant from the Norrbotten County Administrative Board for the project “Collaboration in Gällivare Against Human Trafficking, Prostitution, and Exploitation.” The project runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2028, and aims to strengthen the municipality’s local capacity to prevent, detect, and combat human trafficking, prostitution, and other forms of sexual exploitation through long-term and structured collaboration between the municipality, the business community, and civil society. The work is based on the “City by City” method, developed by The Salvation Army. We are now seeking a project associate for the project.

Job Responsibilities

As a project associate, you will work closely with the project manager to plan, implement, and follow up on the project’s activities. The work includes, among other things, building and supporting a local collaboration network against human trafficking, planning and carrying out awareness-raising initiatives such as seminars, workshops, and information campaigns, as well as participating in the development of a local collaboration plan with procedures and communication channels.

The role includes communication and outreach efforts, documentation and follow-up of the project’s activities, as well as ongoing contact with the project’s partners within the municipality, the business community, and civil society. You will also participate in knowledge transfer and the exchange of experiences with other municipalities in Norrbotten, as well as in the planning and implementation of a conference on the topics of human trafficking, prostitution, and exploitation. You may be required to present background materials to the steering committee, management teams, and collaboration groups.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. Experience with project work, collaboration, or working with social issues is a plus, as is knowledge of human trafficking, prostitution, and exploitation. Experience with networking and familiarity with the community and its stakeholders are also important.

You are communicative, responsive, and work in a structured and independent manner. You are skilled at building trusting relationships and can collaborate with stakeholders from various sectors. You have the ability to see the big picture, maintain a focus on quality, and have strong verbal and written communication skills in Swedish. You can tailor messages to the needs of the target audience. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

Gällivare Municipality offers you:

  • Wellness benefits in the form of strength training/group training/Dundret
  • Wellness hour
  • Access to the workplace’s “Well-being Allowance”
  • Membership in GKFF (Gällivare Municipality’s recreational association)
  • Opportunity to swap vacation days
