Hello! Are you our new preschool teacher for Fjälldalens preschool?

For our Sami minority language department Heavdni, we are now looking for a Sami speaking preschool teacher.

Fjälldalens preschool is a preschool with six departments where nature and the mountain are close by and where you as an educator get a unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the preschool of the future. The preschool opened in January 2025 and we are now looking for you who want to step in among a wonderful bunch of colleagues and build a long-term work at the preschool. In the preschool, we meet our children in their first education and in their first step in lifelong learning and there you as a preschool teacher are important.

Work tasks

You as a preschool teacher are part of a work team and are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching offered to the children. You collaborate with the team and you offer the children a fun and educational teaching and training. As a preschool teacher, you have a special responsibility to lead the goal-oriented processes and in teaching be responsible for:

  • care, development and learning form a whole, planning and implementation are based on the curriculum and on the knowledge and experiences that the children have previously acquired,
  • spontaneously arising activities and interests, everyday activities and routines in the preschool become part of the teaching, and
  • develop educational content and environments that inspire development and learning and that challenge and stimulate children's interest and curiosity and keep their attention.

As a Sámi speaking preschool teacher you will work at our Sámi minority language department Heavdni and work to strengthen children's Sámi language and Sámi culture. We work to ensure that the Sami language is integrated into the children's everyday lives and in the various situations that the children encounter at the preschool.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed preschool teacher, and speak Sami (for example Lule Sami or Northern Sami).

It is important:

  • that you are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lpfö18),
  • that you are a confident and clear leader, take the initiative, are positive and have faith in children's different competencies,
  • that you have knowledge of and use different learning tools,
  • that you have trusting relationships with children and guardians and that you have good collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and personal suitability.
  • that you use educational conversations and educational documentation in your work,
  • that you use image support and TAKK (sign as alternative and complementary communication),
  • that you develop and drive the preschool forward according to the curriculum.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite for the position.
  • Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

The position requires an extract from the Police's criminal record, https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/skola-eller-forskola/ and that you present a valid identity card showing citizenship and a valid work permit.
