Hello! Are you our new teacher at Fjälldalen Preschool? We are now looking for a Sámi-speaking teacher for our Sámi minority language program!

Fjälldalen Preschool is a preschool with six departments, located close to nature and the mountains, where you, as a teacher, will have a unique opportunity to help shape the preschool of the future.

Job Responsibilities

The preschool curriculum (Lpfö18) outlines the preschool’s core values and mission and includes goals and guidelines for the work at the preschool. Children in preschool should receive a safe educational experience where care, development, and learning form a cohesive whole.

As a preschool teacher, you’ll work with your team to design a safe and enriching educational experience for the children at the preschool. The work is challenging, exciting, and creative, and takes place in close collaboration with your work team and colleagues at the preschool. As a childcare worker, you are part of a work team and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the educational programs offered to the children. You collaborate with your team to provide the children with a fun and educational learning experience.

As a preschool teacher, you are part of a team and are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the education provided to the children. As a preschool teacher, you have a special responsibility to lead the goal-oriented processes and, in your teaching, ensure that:

• care, development, and learning form a cohesive whole; planning and implementation are based on the curriculum and on the knowledge and experiences the children have previously acquired,
• spontaneously arising activities and interests, as well as everyday activities and routines in preschool, become part of the teaching, and
• develop educational content and environments that inspire development and learning, challenge and stimulate the children’s interest and curiosity, and hold their attention.

As a Sámi-speaking preschool teacher, you will work in our Sámi minority language department, Heavdni, and focus on strengthening the children’s Sámi language and Sámi culture. We strive to ensure that the Sámi language is integrated into the children’s daily lives and into the various situations they encounter at preschool.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed preschool teacher or childcare worker who speaks Sami (such as Lule Sami or Northern Sami).

It is important:

• that you are thoroughly familiar with the curriculum (Lpfö18),
• that you are a confident and clear leader, take initiative, are positive, and have faith in children’s diverse abilities,
• that you have knowledge of and use various teaching tools,
• that you have trusting relationships with children and guardians, and that you have good collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability for the role.
• that you use pedagogical discussions and pedagogical documentation in your work,
• that you use visual aids and TAKK (signs as an alternative and augmentative means of communication),
• that you develop and advance the preschool in accordance with the curriculum.
• that you have very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, which is a prerequisite for the position.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Proficiency in any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for employment with Gällivare Municipality.

For this position, you must provide an extract from the Police’s Suspicion and Criminal Record Registry and present a valid ID card indicating your citizenship as well as a valid work permit.

Work Hours/Duration

Permanent position, 100%; a probationary period may apply.

Salary

Monthly salary—we use individual salary determination. Please state your salary expectations in your application. As a Sámi-speaking educator in our Sámi minority language department, you will also receive a 10% salary supplement.
