Description of activities

Do you like books, people and working with education for children and young people? As a school librarian with us in Gällivare, you are part of building a safe, creative and equal school - in the middle of a mountain municipality that invests in learning and culture!

School library activities have their organizational home within the public library, under the youth, leisure and culture administration, and are conducted in close collaboration with the children and education administration. Together we create an activity that strengthens students' learning, desire to read and future opportunities.

Work tasks

You will be an important employee in the school's work with reading, information search and digital literacy. Here you work closely with students and teachers and contribute to creating a love of reading and making the library a natural meeting place.

• Drive and develop the school library's activities in line with governing documents and legislation
• Support teachers in teaching, e.g.. source criticism and information search
• Plan reading promotion activities, book talks and theme weeks
• Build and maintain an up-to-date, inclusive media stock - print, digital and in several languages
• Create a welcoming reading environment where all students feel at home
• Collaborate with other libraries and cultural actors in the municipality

Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to make a difference in young people's everyday lives and who thrive on both meeting students and working in a structured way in the background.

• Degree in library and information science or other education that the employer considers equivalent
• Experience of working in libraries, preferably school libraries
• Good digital skills and familiarity with library systems and digital resources
• Confident in meeting children and young people, with the ability to create calm and curiosity
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing; more languages are a plus
• Gällivare municipality is an administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish under the National Minority Languages Act. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality
• You are committed, take the initiative and find it easy to cooperate with several different work groups. You are structured, flexible and have a creative approach to your work.

Type of employment

Full-time, permanent employment. Probationary period may apply.
