Business description

The social administration in Gällivare municipality is responsible for social services and municipal health care. The administration is in the middle of an extensive transition with a focus on quality, follow-up, skills supply and developed working methods in line with the new Social Services Act.

Now we are looking for a social secretary for our school social team as an initiative where schools and social services work together to strengthen children's conditions to succeed in school and in life. You are organizationally placed within the social services and your immediate manager will be the Operations Manager for Children and Young People. Your daily workplace will be mainly in a school environment, where you work closely with school staff, student health and guardians. You will be part of a close collaboration between social services and schools.

Duties

The assignment is about building trust, creating presence and contributing to security in everyday life. You are organizationally placed within the social services but have your daily workplace in a school environment, where you work closely with school staff, student health and guardians. You meet children and families in their everyday lives, pick up signals early and contribute with support before difficulties deepen. The work involves close interaction between several actors and requires both structure and flexibility. You will:

  • collaborate with guardians, school, student health and other actors
  • identify children and students in need of support at an early stage
  • provide advice, support and short-term interventions to children and families
  • work to increase school attendance and break unfavorable development
  • participate in and lead collaboration meetings
  • work in a structured way with mapping, planning and follow-up
  • contribute to developing working methods and methods within the team

The interventions take place both at individual and group level, always with the child's best interests in focus.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a social worker degree and experience of social work, preferably in the field of children and young people. You have good knowledge of the social services' mission and legislation and thrive in collaboration with other professions. Experience of preventive work or school-related social work is an advantage.

As a person, you are confident and relationship-building. You have the ability to create trust in the meeting with children and guardians and are both responsive and clear in your communication. You work in a structured way but are flexible when the situation requires it, and you actively contribute to both your own work and the team's development.

You have very good communication skills in both speech and writing and thrive in collaboration with both managers, employees and political representatives.

Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is an administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours / Duration

The employment is full-time and limited in time until 261231, with the possibility of extension.

Taking office takes place as soon as possible by agreement.

Extracts from the criminal record must be presented before employment. B driving license is a requirement

Working hours are scheduled for daytime but on occasion evening work may occur.
