Within the Financial Assistance Department in Gällivare, we are actively working to meet our enhanced activity requirements. Our goal is to shorten the path to self-sufficiency through early, clear, and individually tailored interventions. We are a dedicated team that values collaboration, local knowledge, and a strong drive to motivate our residents toward self-sufficiency.
Job Responsibilities
As a social worker specializing in the activity requirement, you will have a clear focus on the “work-first” approach. You will assess eligibility for financial assistance under the Social Services Act (SoL), but your most important task is to make decisions and follow up based on the activity requirement so that our citizens can become self-sufficient.

Qualifications
You hold a degree in social work or have education deemed relevant to the position.
You must have a solid understanding of applicable legislation and a humanistic view of people. We are looking for someone who is driven by seeing people grow. You strike a good balance between being empathetic and supportive, while also being comfortable setting expectations, establishing boundaries, and making independent decisions. You have a strong command of spoken and written Swedish.
You are service-oriented, solution-focused, and flexible, as the job may require making decisions under time pressure. You need to be self-assured and have a professional demeanor.
Experience with the Pulsen Combine business system and prior experience with financial assistance are strongly preferred. A Class B driver’s license is an advantage.
Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

We focus on hands-on leadership, a coordinator for supervision, and external supervision in collaboration with other case workers. You will be offered the opportunity to participate in “Yrkesresan,” a national skills development program for social services that focuses on children and youth, as well as foster care.
Work Hours/Duration
Full-time, permanent position. The Social Assistance Unit operates on a reduced workweek schedule, with a weekly work hours of 35.92 hours. The position includes on-call duty. A probationary period may apply.
