In the municipality of Gällivare, we have a unit that handles all official authority within the social services sector. We are now looking for social workers who want to work with the exercise of public authority in the area of children and youth.

Job Responsibilities

As a social worker specializing in children and youth, you will primarily work with the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU). You will work with families based on reports received or applications from guardians or young people. Your responsibilities include follow-up work for children and youth in open-care interventions carried out by outpatient services, as well as follow-ups on placements in foster homes and residential care facilities (HVB). We strive to provide families with support at an early stage, and as far as possible, we prioritize in-home solutions. The role involves collaboration with other colleagues within our organization, as well as internal and external partnerships.

You will be offered the opportunity to participate in Yrkesresan, a national skills development program for social services.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. As a social worker, you should have a solid understanding of current legislation and a humanistic view of people. It is advantageous if you have prior work experience, training in BBIC, MI, Sign of Safety, child counseling, or other relevant specialized knowledge. You should be able to work independently but also enjoy collaborating in a team and maintaining good relationships. You are service-oriented, solution-focused, and have a flexible mindset, as the work may require making decisions in urgent situations. You need to be self-assured, able to set boundaries, and maintain a professional demeanor. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

A Class B driver’s license is required

A criminal background check is required upon hiring.
