Description of Operations

The Adapted Elementary School is for grades 1–9 and is located at Hedskolan and Sjöparksskolan. The staff includes both special education teachers and student assistants. We provide students with intellectual disabilities an education tailored to their needs. Instruction is based on each student’s needs and abilities.

Job Responsibilities

You will assist a student or a group of students who may have various needs, whether physical or social. You will be in the classroom alongside the teacher, where you will help ensure that all students achieve their goals. You will assist and provide care for the student during activities that take place both at school and during after-school programs, working closely with teachers and the student’s guardians.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school diploma or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Knowledge of or experience working with individuals who have neurodevelopmental disorders is a plus. As a person, you should have an attentive and responsive approach to students’ diverse needs, foster engagement and participation, be a clear leader, and have strong collaborative skills. You are independent, responsible, and comfortable taking the initiative. We develop our work through pedagogical discussions and collegial learning, and we view the ability to support one another in embracing curiosity about new ways of working as a strength. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality.

Full-time, Temporary Position, August 12–September 26 through June 12–27.
