 Description of Operations

Hakkasskolan, located in the village of Hakkas, is a spacious elementary school in the rural area of Gällivare Municipality. It includes a preschool class, an after-school program, and grades 1–9 of elementary school. The school has approximately 70 students from Hakkas and the surrounding villages, with some students moving into the area. The school has easy access to a swimming pool and large natural areas that are used in all of the students’ activities. Hakkasskolan is a small school where we build close relationships and dare to succeed and fail together. Our vision is “For a future where anything is possible!” We are constantly improving our teaching and learning environments to provide students with the best possible conditions for learning. Hakkasskolan has been granted ERASMUS+ accreditation for 2021–2027. This entails ongoing collaborative projects with other schools across Europe, with opportunities for work-related travel for all participating educators. The goals of the ERASMUS+ program are to collaborate with other schools in Europe that face similar challenges to ours, to strengthen students’ motivation to learn multiple languages, to further develop distance learning, and to give students and teachers the opportunity to view their own local communities from new perspectives.
