Sjöparksskolan is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the city and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has about 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been rebuilt to meet the requirements of a secondary school and is modern in design. The school is working hard on designing good learning environments, peer learning and on designing sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site at the unit. There are also special educators, social educators, study and vocational counselors. 2 key educators work to develop our digital skills and the school has a house substitute who works to cover short-term absences. First teachers work with the development of subjects. The school is divided into 3 teams, each led by a team leader. New and unauthorized staff are supervised by experienced and authorized colleagues as an introduction and in the continued daily work of teaching. The school provides opportunities for pupils with special needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is a preparatory class for newly arrived pupils at the school.

Duties

As a teacher in the preparatory class, you work mainly with teaching in the class. You work in an age-integrated way and you act as a mentor for the students. You manage the daily contact with students, guardians and work in close collaboration with colleagues. You actively participate in the school's joint development work together with colleagues in your own unit and outside the school.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher with a teaching license for primary school in SVA or other equivalent education. We believe that you are positive, create commitment, participation and see to the needs of each student. As a person, you are responsive and create good relationships, both with students, colleagues and with guardians. In your work with students, you are clear in your leadership. We also believe that you are innovative and interested in school development and we place great value in the ability to collaborate and cooperate. We attach great importance to personal suitability.

Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent employment. Probationary period may apply.
