Sjöparksskolan is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the city and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has about 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been rebuilt to meet the requirements of a secondary school and is modern in design. The school is working hard on designing good learning environments, peer learning and on designing sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site at the unit. There are also special educators, social educators, study and vocational counselors, key educators working to develop our digital skills and the school has a house substitute who works to cover short-term absences. The school is divided into 3 teams, each led by a first teacher. New and unauthorized staff are supervised by experienced and authorized colleagues as an introduction and in the continued daily work of teaching. The school provides opportunities for pupils with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is a preparatory class for newly arrived pupils at the school.

Tasks

The starting point for you as a teacher is to work with planning, teaching, evaluation and value-based work based on the curriculum. The work is done both independently and together with colleagues at the school. Mentorship for students is included.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed teacher with the authority to teach home and consumer science. You need to have knowledge in handling computers and technology in your daily work. You should be responsible, clear and driven and have the ability to create good relationships with students, guardians and colleagues. Commitment, innovation, a solution-oriented approach, interest in and ability to cooperate are qualities that the school values. However, do not hesitate to apply if you are a person who has an interest in the subject and wants to try working as a teacher. Then we can support you with planning of teaching etc. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent employment if you have a license in the subject, otherwise fixed-term employment. Probationary period may be applied if you have a license in the subject.
