Business description

The position of technician is located in the technology department within the Public Works and Technology Administration. The department is responsible for providing residents with services in the areas of water/sewage, streets/waste and fiber. As a technician in water and sewage, you are part of the technical department's VA unit. There are about 20 people who work together to carry out and develop operation and maintenance at our water and treatment plants within the municipality. Development issues are important to us and the goal is to further strengthen Gällivare as an attractive municipality to live and work in. We work continuously with improvements in work processes and in collaboration with internal and external actors. You will be part of a team that works to ensure that our municipality is kept in a safe and good condition and with a good service to our municipal citizens.

Duties

As a technician in our water and sewage works, you are a large and important part of the daily operation, which forms the basis for a good delivery and function in our water and sewage pipeline system. The work involves both monitoring and practical work at the plants. As a technician, you will work together with other employees on everything from operational optimization to remedial maintenance and inspections within our plants. The work includes standby duty.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have some form of technical education or equivalent competence through previous work experience. You have good ability to troubleshoot technical installations and carry out simple repairs. You have basic administrative skills and computer skills in the form of working as a user in various support systems. To thrive as a technician, you should be able to work flexibly and adapt to unforeseen events in operations. Being committed and able to take initiative is important. You should be willing to take responsibility and see what needs to be done. As the work is largely of a practical nature, you must enjoy working with your hands. Great importance is attached to personal suitability. As a technician, you will have many contacts both internally and externally, so you should be able to cooperate easily and be service-oriented. The service is characterized by responsibility, development, commitment, cooperation and problem solving. Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

B driving license is a requirement.
