
About the Position
Are you looking for a hands-on and varied job where you can contribute to an important public service every day? We are currently seeking a technician for our Water and Sewerage Unit within the Municipality of Gällivare.The position is located in the Engineering Department within the Community Development and Engineering Administration. The department is responsible for providing services to the municipality’s residents in the areas of water and sewer, streets and waste management, and fiber optics. As a water and wastewater technician, you’ll be part of the Water and Wastewater Unit, where approximately 20 employees work together on the operation, maintenance, and development of the municipality’s water and wastewater treatment plants. Our mission is to ensure safe and well-functioning water and wastewater services for the municipality’s residents.

Job Responsibilities
As a technician with us, you’ll play a key role in day-to-day operations. Your work helps ensure that the municipality’s water and wastewater systems operate safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The work is varied and involves both monitoring and hands-on work at our facilities. Together with your colleagues, you’ll work on tasks such as operational optimization, corrective maintenance, checks, inspections, and simple repairs within our pipeline networks and treatment plants. Once you’ve settled into the role and developed the necessary skills, on-call duty may become part of your responsibilities.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with a technical education or equivalent skills gained through work experience. You have a strong ability to troubleshoot technical installations and can perform simple repairs.
You have basic administrative skills and are accustomed to working with various digital support systems. A Class B driver’s license is required. To thrive in this role, you need to be flexible and able to adapt when operational conditions change. You are committed, take initiative, and are willing to take responsibility. Since the work is largely hands-on, you must also enjoy working with your hands. The role involves frequent contact with both internal and external parties. Therefore, it is important that you are a team player, service-oriented, and contribute to a positive work environment. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. Knowledge of Sami, Meänkieli, or Finnish is a plus, as Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for these national minority languages.
