Description of Operations

Tallbacka Preschool is a three-section preschool located in the same building as Tallbacka School in the Mellanområdet neighborhood of Gällivare. The classes are currently mixed-age groups for children ages 1–5, with a maximum of 18 children in each group. The preschool is very close to nature in the Mellanområdet neighborhood and uses this natural environment as a learning setting in its teaching with the children.

Tallbacka Preschool operates based on sustainable development and gender equality, with a clear foundation in the 2018 Preschool Curriculum. Tallbacka Preschool, together with Granbacka and Aurora Preschools, is part of a collegial network where we collaborate and exchange experiences. Our operations are safe and well-established. We use a project-based approach in our work with the children, and the children’s interests and input form the basis for how our teaching is structured. We place a strong emphasis on outdoor education and use nature as the foundation for the children’s learning and development.

Job Responsibilities

As a childcare worker, you will work with the team to design a safe and enriching educational program for the children in the preschool’s class. The curriculum guidelines outline your responsibilities within the team regarding the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the program and educational activities. As a childcare worker, you are part of a team and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the educational activities offered to the children. In collaboration with the work team, the children should be given new challenges and receive support and stimulation in their social development.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with training as a childcare worker who wants to help develop our exciting program. It is important that you are thoroughly familiar with our guiding documents. Our mission is based on the 2018 Preschool Curriculum. You are a clear leader, independent, responsible, and able to take the initiative. Of course, you have a positive attitude, believe in the children’s abilities, and are committed to helping them grow. You’re interested in using digital tools, value trusting relationships with children and parents, and are a good team player. You enjoy using pedagogical discussions and pedagogical documentation in your work or are willing to learn more about these practices. You are interested in developing the preschool and its learning environments.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a plus when applying for a position with Gällivare Municipality. 

An extract from the police’s criminal history and suspicion records is required.

Work Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term employment through June 2027. Provided that the necessary decisions are made.
